Employment support for Lambeth tenants
"Get Set Go" scheme offers practical job experience
Welfare Solutions team support Lambeth tenants with employment schemes and financial advice.
The 'Workwise' partnership between St Mungo’s homelessness prevention charity and Lambeth’s Welfare Solutions team helps people who are in debt and at risk of homelessness find sustainable jobs.
In February 2017 the team were pleased to announce the recording of job 200 for Lambeth tenants affected by Welfare Reform.
This also coincides with the 2 year anniversary of the partnership which commenced on February 2015. The project is aided by local advice charity Centre 70.
To date 326 Lambeth residents have benefitted from ‘Workwise’ support, giving the project a job outcome rate of 61%.
Other key achievements to note are:
- 173 places gained on education and training courses
- 116 volunteering positions
- 33 work placements gained.
These outcomes are a combined team effort and have only been possible with the buy in from our tenants and the fantastic opportunities provided by our many partners within St Mungo’s, Lambeth and beyond.
A success story
Mr Cross of North Lambeth has lived in the borough for 30 years and wanted to contribute to his community. He enrolled on the 'Workwise' scheme where a multi-skills course led to Health and Safety and CSCS qualifications for building site work. He also practiced his customer-facing skills through weekly resident engagement via the Get Set Go scheme – then landed a full-time job as a tiler. His travel expenses for his first month were covered via 'Workwise'.
